This is it! The absolute best EV manual you can find, plus accompanying videos that show you, not just tell you, how to do it yourself. All the EV conversion books I've read so far seemed to be lacking in some area or another, but I think I've found the best resource for converting to electric. When I found it I got really excited.
Electric Conversion Made Easy was written by Gavin Shoebridge from New Zealand. He is well known for building an electric car on his own from scratch because he documented the whole thing and posted video footage on YouTube.
He's the real deal. He started converting his own car with no experience, proving that you don't need to be a mechanic (but it does help to know one). Rather than keeping it to himself, he posted his progress on YouTube for everyone to see, but he didn't stop there. Gavin wanted to share the lessons, tips and secrets that he learned along the way, so he just recently put together a comprehensive, up-to-date guide on how to do it yourself. It includes all the information you need to get going, including checklists, resources, diagrams, schematics (don't worry, they're not complicated), as well as helpful tips and "secrets" that none of the other manuals cover. It also includes 2 very helpful bonus books focused on getting the most out of your EV. If you don't want to take my word for it, you can download a 27-page "sneak peak" before you buy anything.
You get access to all this, plus unlimited future updates, for about what it costs to fill up your tank with gas. If it sounds like I'm excited about this, it's because I am! (And I don't get excited that easily). My only complaint is that the videos were recorded in HD (why, I'm not sure), which seemed to really hog my bandwidth, making them pretty choppy. I'm not sure if this was due to my internet connection or the browser I was using (Google Chrome). I'm sure they've improved that by now, since it is the real value-add to this product.
If there is a negative to this manual, it is that it does not get really into the technical details like Build Your Own Electric Vehicle does. If you want the up-to-date, down-to-earth, plus the technical nitty-gritty, I would suggest you get both of these books. If you're on the fence, get Gavin's book and then decide if you want more techie stuff.

P.S. This is the last post I am going to do on EV conversion manuals because there is little point in looking at anything else. Now none of us have an excuse not to do something about oil dependence, air and noise pollution. Let's get to it!
